
Welcome to my blog for marketers who want to reach and connect with women about healthcare and women’s health and wellness.
I’m Kelley Connors, and President of KC Healthcare Communications LLC, the Women’s Health Care Marketing Company. As a women’s health marketing expert, I assist pharmaceutical companies, hospitals, consumer packaged goods companies, insurance companies, and academic medical centers in creating educational and consumer engagement marketing programs to champion women’s health issues.
Our signature marketing offering, Real Women on Health!, is an on-line community and women-to-women engagement hub that helps organizations market health and healthcare with women, not just “to women”. While many marketers focus on marketing messages to targeted groups of women, our focus is on building relationships with women so they become brand advocates, empowered by industry and non-profit support. In this effort, I am the host of the bi-monthly on-line radio show by the same name.
Our signature strategy is based on a women-centric business approach which shifts thinking from to marketing to women, to marketing with women. It consists of four central pillars or the 4 Cs: charisma, coaching, community and credibility. The foundation for our pillars is empathy, and we nurture this through language as well as process, with a sensitivity to key principles in marketing to women.
As an independent healthcare marketing and brand engagement specialist, I developed a web-based smoking prevention educational intervention for young girls with Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center and Pfizer. In the course of working with our community partner, Girls Inc., I became inspired to go beyond patient education to spark dialogue among the young girls and empower them with healthy choices to say “no” to smoking. The result is an educational and creative web site called the “No Smoking Room”.
When I’m not completely immersed in my work, I join my women’s master’s rowing team on the Norwalk River in Connecticut or wherever US Rowing competitions take us!
